Trappers

Rating: 2

I have recently come to a new respect for trappers. I have been experimenting with all trapper base defense to some amazing success. Bsuits lucy jumping from one trap to the next, people jumping into base thinking they have bypassed the trapper, when they’ve only bypassed the first of many. Then the stream of humans to the alien base dwindles as they run out of money or realize that assaulting the alien base means certain death.

The most devious aspect of trappers is that they don’t kill, they let the aliens take the kill. Granger spit killing bsuits weakened by a dretch swarm, grangers killing humans who frantically look around for a trapper to destroy (invariably destroying the wrong one!)

A trapper on the wall but very near the floor can be very effective (though you don’t want it there at SD) particularly when paired with another trapper a little higher up and further into base. Trappers near the floor have less distance to shoot, and so are wicked fast. While they are vulnerable to grenades, humans always look up when caught by a trapper, so putting another trapper nearby will cause the humans target that one (in successive attacks,) still get caught by your out of site trapper, and also get caught by trappers further inside base if they happen to jump that one.

On the back hallway of ATCS, put a trapper near the floor inside that wall lip. An acid up top will cause humans to target it, primarily by moving in front of it and getting trapped.

Trappers build quickly. Maybe it’s just my imagination, but I’d swear that trappers build faster than other things. A destroyed trapper seems to be replaced quickly and easily.

The greatest thing about trappers, they let your team get the kill. Your team gets the the evols! Closer to stage 3! You are basically trapping food for your team, and it is VERY effective. I highly recommend that you experiment with trapper placement, I would use them instead of hives!
