Title: About k-otic? hud Post by: Meow on May 16, 2008, 12:08:38 PM As above...i can't download any thing new about that hud?
http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=6555.60 (http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=6555.60) http://interpsy.com/nt/oticz/ (http://interpsy.com/nt/oticz/) /\/\/\/\ the website does not state anything new? Since k-otic is mg... If this hud is updated?...thank you for your work, effort, time, etc :D Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: tuple on June 18, 2008, 07:17:30 PM Hmm, looks a bit misleading :)
Their download page lists "Older Versions" but it actually does download the latest version (1.8.1 as far as I know) It's here (http://interpsy.com/nt/oticz/current/oticz_v1.8.1.zip) I do like the hud, wish I had more time to play ;) Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Garoth on June 18, 2008, 09:35:11 PM Don't we actually host a webpage on mg.net for it as well?
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on June 19, 2008, 08:22:35 PM Why doesn't the hud work on the Dev server?
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Garoth on June 20, 2008, 01:01:56 AM 'Cause the code for UI stuff changed and all custom HUDs will need to be reprogrammed. I recall K-otic got a start on reprogramming his but did not finish.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on June 20, 2008, 11:19:15 AM We should get on him about that then shouldn't we? =D
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Garoth on June 20, 2008, 06:54:37 PM It'd be nice if he did it, but most of the time, nagging people about things actually serves no other purpose than to annoy them.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on June 20, 2008, 08:48:31 PM Very true Garoth... Also do you know how to find your screenies for trem? I've tried the homepath and still haven't found them. Would Oticz hud affect this since it saves screenies to the hud? Help appreciated.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: deathonice on June 21, 2008, 02:56:01 AM To find them:
Linux: ~/.tremulous/fs_game/screenshots Mac: ~/Library/Application\ Support/Tremulous/fs_game/screenshots Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Tremulous\fs_game\screenshots No, it doesn't affect where they are, the fs_game of the server you are playing on does. For example, some servers have base2, base3, etc. That should do it ;) Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on June 21, 2008, 12:54:12 PM Thanks Death. We still need to have a get together on Trem btw.
Gah it says path cannot be found. And I'm on windows. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: evets@ubuntu on June 21, 2008, 07:26:19 PM If you copy and pasted that path, then you should know that there's two slashes between "Documents and settings" and "Local settings", which would confuzzle the computer.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: kevlarman on June 21, 2008, 07:50:48 PM If you copy and pasted that path, then you should know that there's two slashes between "Documents and settings" and "Local settings", which would confuzzle the computer. the two slashes shouldn't cause any problems, the lack of a username between them is a problem though >.>Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on June 21, 2008, 09:18:04 PM Ahhaahahaha that would make sense Kev thank you... Nope still can't find the specified path. -.-
EDIT: Found after complaining on IRC thanks for help. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: deathonice on June 22, 2008, 02:09:02 AM If you copy and pasted that path, then you should know that there's two slashes between "Documents and settings" and "Local settings", which would confuzzle the computer. the two slashes shouldn't cause any problems, the lack of a username between them is a problem though >.>If you didn't notice from that fail, I don't run Windows, I did that from memory. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on June 22, 2008, 03:27:41 AM Nice Death. And yes you have a mac last time I checked which is fail if you have that lame 1 click mouse.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Garoth on June 22, 2008, 05:51:53 PM Not really... you can easily use any mouse with a mac, and you can emulate other mouse behaviour with hotkeys pretty easily.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: deathonice on June 22, 2008, 07:25:29 PM Nice Death. And yes you have a mac last time I checked which is fail if you have that lame 1 click mouse. My mouse has 5 buttons, thank you very much ;)Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on June 22, 2008, 10:08:54 PM You better have the extra 2 set to crouch and medi.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: angus on June 23, 2008, 02:12:49 AM Three buttons is enough for anybody, you... you fancy person!
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on June 23, 2008, 05:54:15 AM Naw I couldn't imagine playing Trem without a 5 pt mouse its way more handy.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: angus on June 24, 2008, 03:53:41 AM Is not. [/jealousy]
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on June 24, 2008, 08:11:10 AM Lol seriously you should try it.. It'll improve game play soooo much.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: angus on June 25, 2008, 02:09:39 AM Send me yours, then, and I'll try it.
Did I mention I just installed the new HUD? I think it's great. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on June 25, 2008, 06:31:29 AM Personally I think otic has one of the better HUD's out right now. I'd like to test some others if people know any link me please. =)
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: tyranis on June 26, 2008, 11:32:58 AM List of huds with links: http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=5481.0
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on June 26, 2008, 04:34:32 PM Thank you Tyranis. Hope they meet up to my standards.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: angus on June 27, 2008, 04:37:13 AM Was that smart answer not even worth a comment?
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Meow on July 01, 2008, 09:45:02 AM I was wondering how did K-Otic get a chat menu ?
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: K_otic on July 01, 2008, 12:27:55 PM Its just a bunch of vstr's and binds.
Version 2.0 is out, you can download it from here. (http://www.mercenariesguild.net/exclamation/otic/) Please report any bugs. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Lakitu7 on July 02, 2008, 03:16:57 AM Oy, I'm sorry otic/ex. I didn't realize I was launching this semipure thing to break everything like right when you made a 2.0. Bad timing. :(
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Meow on July 02, 2008, 10:54:21 AM k-otic the hud is fantastic.
I tried doing the chat menu in other hud but it did not work :-\ The menus is very nice. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: angus on July 03, 2008, 06:41:58 AM I've installed it myself. Unfortunately, I won't be on for a while, because I've discovered a new hobby: Modding Oblivion.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on July 03, 2008, 07:50:31 PM Ummm I forgot all the HUD commands how do I unistall/install it again?
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: 3of12 on July 03, 2008, 09:25:55 PM It's in the readme, but if you put the folerds in the right places:
\exec ui\oticz_install.cfg \exec ui\oticz_uninstall.cfg Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: WiggityWhack on July 03, 2008, 09:55:13 PM This is my first dip into oticz hud, and I'm pleased. I was mad at the microscopic text, delving deep into your code to find how to change it, then I just went into options like I was supposed to!
The one thing I miss is the main menu/server browser music. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: angus on July 03, 2008, 09:59:50 PM I'll have to agree there.
The music could get annoying, but it was as much a part of Tremulous as the Lucifer Cannon. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Garoth on July 03, 2008, 11:13:34 PM Boo, play your own background music.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: CerebralAssassin on July 04, 2008, 03:26:09 AM It's in the readme, but if you put the folerds in the right places: \exec ui\oticz_install.cfg \exec ui\oticz_uninstall.cfg Lol yeah they are thanks 3of12 Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: angus on July 04, 2008, 07:30:31 AM Boo, play your own background music. That, my friend, is just like saying "Build your own Lucifer Cannon out of these leftover parts" The title sequence was chosen for a reason, you know. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: deathonice on July 04, 2008, 01:45:31 PM Boo, play your own background music. That, my friend, is just like saying "Build your own Lucifer Cannon out of these leftover parts" The title sequence was chosen for a reason, you know. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: WiggityWhack on July 04, 2008, 03:31:40 PM I'm having a hell of a time with this HUD now...every time I restart trem, it doesn't keep the HUD, and if I leave a server, it doesnt keep the HUD. And the text always stays small no matter what now :'( I think this may have started after visiting PT yesterday.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Garoth on July 05, 2008, 04:34:35 AM Boo, play your own background music. That, my friend, is just like saying "Build your own Lucifer Cannon out of these leftover parts" The title sequence was chosen for a reason, you know. Agreed. Bad analogy. And yes, from my experience in open source development, it probably was chosen because one of: 1) Someone someone knew was sort of okay at music and they felt like that person should do it. It being a short loop. 2) They couldn't find anything better and someone not really qualified slapped something together. Music / sound effects for OSS games don't come around too too much. What I can be pretty sure of, though, is that it was not "chosen for a reason" -- it most certainly was something that they had on hand, could use freely, and was "pretty good." Well, I mean, unless they chose it for the reasons that it was on hand and pretty good. I for one do not miss it, and it interferes with playing your own background music -- which is not only nothing alike to building a lucifer cannon, but also is customized to your tastes. As a side note, it seems the developers were considerably more focussed on making the actual game. The title screen / menus / server browser leave a lot to be desired. I agree completely with their decision. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Lakitu7 on July 05, 2008, 12:32:25 PM I'm not sure what the problem is. Turn off the music volume in the GUI one time and you never hear it again. It's not like Trem has other music to where this setting does anything but remove that particular music.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: tyranis on July 05, 2008, 02:14:45 PM Tremfusion(gasp, the unspeakable fork) is planning to overhaul the menus and music.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Garoth on July 05, 2008, 05:23:40 PM I do turn off the music in the menus.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: angus on July 05, 2008, 07:42:28 PM Hell, I'd LIKE to build a lucifer cannon.
But yeah, the music was bad. It was more for the sake of a good argument than anything else. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Garoth on July 06, 2008, 01:45:32 AM Oh. Sorry then.
And I agree, building a Lucifer Cannon out of "spare parts" would be very awesome. I would very much enjoy one day being so proficient with computers that I can build and program gadgets. Sounds like a good time. Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: angus on July 06, 2008, 06:42:36 AM Nothing to apologise for. It was what I wanted, after all.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Amanieu on July 06, 2008, 05:14:36 PM So when can we get this HUD ported to the svn menu file format?
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Meow on July 10, 2008, 02:21:12 AM Amanieu>? SVN menu file format? i don't really get it :P
AS like the crosshair painsaw, can we add external materia to huds? eg. "work/muip/newcrosshair.tga" ? like "gfx/etc/etc.tga" ? Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: angus on July 10, 2008, 05:30:37 AM Don't worry. I don't get all that stuff either.
Title: Re: About k-otic? hud Post by: Garoth on July 10, 2008, 08:54:31 AM To answer Amanieu: they're already working on porting Oticz to the new format, and from what I understand, are nearly finished.
