Life can get hard at times which results in high amounts of stress. I have to keep my grades over average while having absolutely no fun in the outside world. Probably that's why I can't get enough sleep at night. I've tried one of those alternate realities Munroe does, but then again it tends to keep me awake since I also want to know how it turns out.

Hmm, maybe I should try not using the computer one of these days. But then again, what else would I do? I can't walk out of my house, and I try to play Tremulous but sometimes my sister's on the laptop and lags the living hell out of the connection. I want a more relaxing life. Will I ever get one? One of these days.

Quote from: evets
Before falling asleep, he say to himself "I think I'll wake up at 7:34 tomorrow" and then promptly at 7:34, his his would open, and he'd get up and be instantly and completely awake, regardless of how many hours he slept.

I think I remember my sister saying that you can will yourself to wake up at a certain time if you think about it before going to bed. She also said you could control your dreams by thinking about them before falling asleep. Anyone ever experiment? I seem to have mild success waking up more refreshed if I set a time for me to wake up in my mind than just plop down.

Also, I've noticed I haven't remembered my dreams for a long time. I think it has something to do with the fact that during the school year I run on less hours of sleep than I used to when I was younger, and don't enter the correct sleep cycle, or something. Anyone know anything about sleeping?

Wiggity, you're thinking of lucid dreaming. You can pretty much control your dreams if you're aware that you're in one. I've tried to lucid dream lots of times, but I'm guessing my mind is too tired to be aware if I'm in a dream or not. Try it out Wiggity:

I've got a fairly decent grasp on lucid dreaming, to the point that I can usually guide my dreams in the general direction that I want them to go, if not control what happens entirely. I'd been doing this since I was really young, though, and had actually grown up thinking that it was normal before I found out that a lot of people can't do it as easily.

I generally sleep between six and nine hours a day, depending. My sleep could probably be more refreshing, but I'm pleased with how it is now. You can find plenty of advice to help you sleep better online, though. I saw a lifehacker article a while back about some tips.

It takes me around 45 mins to get to sleep.  Generally I'm still thinking things, and running things over in my head, and that stops me getting to sleep!

I don't get as much sleep as I should, but it's never less than six hours, and I usually manage at least eight. I don't think I do too badly in that regard.

I've controlled dreams once or twice, I think, but recently it seems that as soon as I notice that I'm in a dream it starts to degrade and I end up back in the real world. It's possible of course that I'm getting cause and effect mixed up here, and I've only been noticing that I'm dreaming because I'm half awake already.

I can't do any of this waking up wizardry, but my failure rate for alarm response is pretty low. All in all, I think I could do a lot worse.

I seem to only be able to sleep in my own bed; even then I have some trouble. I rarely am able to remember my dreams and have once or twice been able to control them. At hotels/friend's houses I have trouble getting to sleep and often wake up every hour or so. I think stress right now is really adding to my situation.

Actually, it's kinda like that with me.  I get to sleep in about 45 mins in my own bed, but anywhere else, and it can take up to 2 hours depending on where I am.

I can remember some dreams, but can't control them no matter how hard I try!

I pretty much can sleep easy. The only time I ever have trouble sleeping is if I take a nap to early because here in alaska there are longer day and night sequences here so taking a nap early is not advisible. It is hell trying to go back to sleep Lips Sealed

Wow for Off-Topic thats very in sighted. This is a good subject that people should talk about because a lot of us may suffer from insomnia and not know it. Generally I can't sleep till 2-4 A.M. which is really troublesome during the school year and is a form of insomnia. When I do fall asleep before midnight I generally dream about some pretty creepy things. Such as the death of myself or others or even about like World War II. But after I wake up I feel like I have the energy of a 6 year old so... I guess thats fine for the most part.

This wasn't a necro.

A necro is finding an old, dead thread, and replying to it - attempting to "bring it back to life".  Problem is, a necro doesn't add anything useful.  Something like "Woah, that's true" or whatever, that's a necro.  This was actually building on and continuing a discussion.

I had a dream where I was a dog that ate a snake to try to save another dog and cat. Then, to keep myself alive, I coughed up the poisonous teeth of the snake. When I woke up, there was spit on my bed  Shocked
