"Some people give a monetary tip to those that save their lives, such as lifeguards. Do you think this should be customary?"

Is English not your first language, out of curiosity?

You'd think people dying on ice would be slippery

You forgot to mention the weird green background text that looks glowy in only IE.

Well, it sounds reasonable, I guess.
But one very important point: Usage of "U" instead of "You" are frowned upon severely in any forum. Just a hint.

Also, in case you have not noticed, the wierd glowy text has a button to itself on the post form.

See?

I made a unilateral decision and removed that nonsense from the theme.  Smiley

Why the hell would you want to _get_ Internet Explorer, lol. It only runs on Windows (afaik) and it comes with every Windows system. If you're getting anything, you're getting _something else_. I think a lot of the people online who encourage you to get browser X don't even care which one as long as it's not IE.

I wouldn't tip someone if they inadvertently saved me, at no risk to themselves, or merely as a byproduct of helping themselves.

Well, also, I'm not sure tipping _anyone_ really makes much sense. I mean, if they're being paid to do X... why should you feel obligated to give them extra (and for anyone who's been to a restaurant in North America, you know it's an obligation a lot of the time)? Similarly, I don't see why I should be obligated to give _more_ money to someone being _paid_ to do a job. However, if you're really happy with the service, you might want to do so. I'd call it based on the situation Tongue

I wouldn't be grateful if they saved me by accident, or never intended too.  Heck, a failed murder attempt is saving you in a way.

Because they aren't paid much.

Waiters/waitresses don't get paid that much at all and frequently depend on tips to get by. They often get paid even less than normal by the management because they're expected to earn tips.
