Hi. The name is REGINALD. I'm from Westerchester, New York, just a tad bit west from Norwalk and Stamford and east from Ossining. I am 18 years old and attend Westchester Academy of International Studies where I am soon to be graduating as I near the finish of my dual studies in English and Global History. I plan to attend McGill university in the Fall after this summer, where I plan to attain a degree in Philosophy and Liberal Arts. After that I hope to continue and go to graduate school at Indiana university to study under Douglas Hofstadter. In my life, he has been and is such an inspirational role model for me. I hope to get an appointment as an associate professor at Indiana university and teach courses in Greek philosophy and do research to get tenured. Once I get tenure at Indiana, I hope to go into business consulting in various global markets to make more money for different charities like Lupus Foundation of America, Coalition for the Homeless, and Africare. All said and done, I hope to live a fulfilling and meaningful life to make the world a better place than when I has entered it and give to people of lower means, whether it be education, financial support, friendship, or what have you be.

Right now, as you know, is the summer, so I'm working part-time at Cleaver's hardware shop to get by. That means that I have a few extra time for my personal activities and hobbies, which is, as you know tremulous.    :turret:  :tyrant:
I am looking for a guild to join. Basically, I am looking for a strong minded group of guys and gals to roll with the fun times, as they say. I am equally interested in fun play and scrimmages against other clans. Above all being the quality and will of character of the people I am playing with. I'm looking to find a respectful guild that doesn't take the game too seriously, but at the same time doesn't not take it too seriously, if you know what I mean. Now, I'm a versatile player and like to play many of the classes. Here is a small breakdown of what I perceive my skills to be. Well met. I see you've used a double negative correctly. Well done. Good application! I like what you have planned for your life, though I personally tend not to plan ahead so much. Life is somewhat unpredictable anyway. I also like that you're planning to come up here to Canada to go to McGill. Personal bias, of course.

I have no idea what's up with the "skill table" and then follow-up note. They seem really arbitrary, and I'm pretty sure that no member will care.

So, I suppose I should clarify a few things about The Mercenaries.

 - We're actually the _only_ guild in Tremulous. We suppress all uprisings, of course
 - The Mercenaries are probably the largest collection of useful people in Tremulous. Usefulness is one of the main criteria we look for in new members, though of course personality matters more.
 - We play fairly often, though we tend not to like a great deal of servers and server players because of the way they are run and because of the way people act on them. As a solution, we run our own servers -- Pure Tremulous & MG Development. Check out puretremulous.com for that community.
 - We also tend to do a lot of work with each other. For an example which you may be interested in -- I'm the organizer of the Tremulous 1.2 (next release) manual. rtfm.mercenariesguild.net
 - You may be interested in talking to ZEL if you see him around. He's our resident Philosopher -- he has a bachelor's degree in it.

I wish luck with your application and hope to see you around. I'll give you some advice about getting in. I think this should be obvious to everyone, but you'd be amazed how many people get it wrong.
 - You most likely won't get in if you do a few bad things while a recruit -- ie. deface some forums, ruin some games, etc.
 - You most likely won't get in if we don't get to know you during the time that has been set aside before we start voting. I recommend playing on our servers and chatting on IRC with members. #mercenariesguild on irc.freenode.org. You can know which people are members by consulting the list on the main page.

I still have no idea what's up with your table, but good luck.

Well, I'm not particularly useful myself. I have less-than-average Tremulous skills and would not know the first thing about modding.
The only thing that can really be said about me is that I'm a stickler for grammar.
