I was just wondering, tremulous would probably have done well as a commercial game, but then again, It owes a lot to the fact that it's a free, open source game.  Opinions?

Well, I already have paid for it, so yes.
Although if it wasn't free I would have never played it in the first place....

Yeah, if it wasn't open source, I'd have never tried it.

Yeah, if it wasn't open source, I'd have never tried it.
If it wasn't FREE, I'd never have tried it.
I didn't even know what open-source meant when I began playing - just thought it meant free.
I've learned so much since I started playing, probably the reason I don't want to quit.

Yeah, free doesn't actually interest me too much. A lot of software on the net that's free but not open source tends to be shoddy, infested with some malware, doesn't run on Linux, and isn't trustworthy. I'm really wary of this closed-source, free software. Sounds like they have some alternate intentions, right off the bat.

(Open Source is exempt mostly because if there was malware in it, it'd be easy enough to confirm. Though in general, I've never heard of any open-source malware.)

Half the free Antivirus programs, half the free decompression programs.

I don't know of any opensource antivirus or decompression programs that run on windows, other than clamwin.  I imagine there are some out there, I'm just not familiar with them.  Clamwin, I'm pretty sure is malware free, and I'd be surprised to hear of an opensource program with malware, which is why I asked for an example.  (I like surprises!)

He was referring to "free" software, not open source software.

AVG is alright, though. One of the better free Anti-Viruses.
