I've just had a new graphics card installed (NVidia GeForce 5500, IIRC) and Tremulous worked fine. Then, I decided to change the graphic settings in a local server, and... sorta messed it up. I think I set my screen resolution too high - 1600x1200 - as I've just checked and the card doesn't support that. I've done this before and just changed the resolution back in the autogen, only this time the resolution setting hasn't changed in either the base or base2 folder:

Quote
seta r_mode "8"

But in the Tremulous console, it says:

Quote
...WARNING: fullscreen unavailable in this mode
...setting mode 9: 1600 1200 FS
...using colorsbits of 16
...calling CDS: failed, bad mode
...trying next higher resolution: failed, bad mode
...restoring display settings

I tried changing the 'r_mode' to 2, but it still doesn't work. I'm pretty sure it's the screen resolution, as that's the only thing I've changed.

Help? Please?

rename the autogen.cfg to autogen2.cfg, let trem make a new one, and copy all the non graphics sounding stuff back.
-OR-
disable full screen mode in the config file.
then AFAIK i should open in a window that's bigger than you screen, from where you should be able to get to options.

Hope one of these works.

Neither of those work, sorry... I ran a search on the computer and changed the 'r_mode' on all the autogens, turned off fullscreen, and when that didn't work, I renamed them all to autogen2. Still nothing.

Cant you just open the config itself and edit the values there? Or ask for one of our configs and swap it in, then change things back to how you like them.

If removeing the autogen doesn't help, then it probably isn't a trem issue.
Have you got all the right drivers? (off the NVidia website NOT the MS ones)

Well, I've solved it, but I have no idea how. I looked in application data, as people always say how their screenshots save there. Just now, I looked and - where there wasn't one before - there was a Tremulous folder with all the screenshots and the autogen in, so I've changed the resolution back.

Thanks for all your help anyway, I appreciate it.
