On the record, both Halo and Halo 2 were mediocre games. I'm not saying they were bad, but they're not nearly what they're hyped up to be.

I agree... I never really got a huge thrill from them. I found them to be kinda... moderated. Not overly flashy, not overly fast, not overly slow, not overly interesting nor boring. Overall, I always found Tremulous' online and UT's gameplay to be much more thrilling.

The thing about Halo 2 was the online play and how you could make your own match types and various other gametypes. people made a mode called "Zombies" which was very fun until it got old.

There would be 1 zombie who would be green and the rest of the players would be red or blue. The Zombie would only be allowed to use a sword while the humans could use human weapons (Pistols,Shotguns and sometimes the Battle rifle but it was a little overpowered for having no shields). When the zombie kills you, you have to switch to their team and the process repeats until there is only 1 human left or everybody is a zombie.

Overall Halo 2 was the best online multi player game at it's time due to the customization. "Zombies" was 1 of thousands of player made game types to play.

Wasn't WoW out then? What about CS-Source? Everquest? Starcraft? L.O.R.D? Battlefield 1942? UT 2004?

I only list so many games because you painted such a broad stroke:

I personally prefer gameplay to customization, so I don't concur with your statement that Halo 2 was the best online multi-player game. I have played it, and while the vehicles and weapons are kinda cool, the gameplay itself is just so stale. Garoth is right, Tremulous is much more exciting. Hell, Team Fortress Classic is more exciting than Halo 2.

Sorry if it seems like I'm hating a bit...I try not to do that anymore. It's just when people really push Halo 1/2, I usually find out they haven't played a lot of other games. I'm not saying this is the case, but this isn't the first time I've had to defend why they're not their not (or were not) the greatest games ever.

For me, Starcraft and Tremulous were the best games I've played. If you want customizable, Starcraft was hard to beat... you could program maps, not just draw em. You could make it when someone went somewhere, they would teleport, die, kill, anything. I even made a Grand Thieft Auto version where you could steal vehicles and work for the mob. Someone made an D&D map where one player could set up scenarios in game, and spawn enemies of various levels, and much more.

I admit I never tried Halo's online, and I don't think Halo is terrible... but I didn't really love it. I wouldn't buy an xbox for it as so many people did, and I wouldn't play it unless I had a bunch of friends over.

CS is for losers.
I like trem and RTS games, like starcraft and C&C and stuff.
