Note: fractions of a negative number do not exist in the real number system. They are complex. (ex, sqrt(-1) = i)

What?

Hmm, yes indeed.

Well, in that case, I theorize that...

0 exists
Everywhere where the fraction's numerator is:
  Is greater than the denominator
  Is even
Exists.

Everything else does not.

Yeah.. so what does the graph look like? Tongue

tyranis: I think he meant fractional powers

I'm not sure why the really mathy people aren't jumping in here. I'm a  failure at math.

Yes, I meant fractional powers.

Damn! We just studied imaginary/complex numbers in my math class. If we actually have to graph it, just shoot me now.

2 lines? Since there are an infinite number of points @ 1 and @ -1, discarding any imaginary results

Don't try, you can permanently damage your brain if you do not have proper training Tongue

It's the training that damages your brain. Yes, I have to take university math.

-1 to any power is either not real(or undefined), -1, or 1.

As your precision increases the lines begin to appear to fill in on your graph.

It may not actually make a true line with infinite precision, I'll have to think more about it.

Nothing hurts, quite as much as pain.

It will make a line containing an infinite number of points but also with an infinite number of discontinuities.

well if its an if you have an equally infinite number of x values where clearly no real y exists you'll just have a straight line.
0 points for the reasoning,
1/2 points for the answer. Tongue

an equally infinite number of x values
wtf is that supposed to mean?

no real y exists
If there was no real y then there would just be an empty graph
There are 2 real y values: 1 and -1

you'll just have a straight line
You will have 2 lines which aren't even contignious
