Hello all, I am new to MG forums, and just tried out the Dev server today...Just wanted to post some of my observations/feedback on it  laugh

I like the whole sirens thing when aliens come into the base, nice job on that one  angel
One thing I had a fuss about was the ability to not be able to destroy turrets with a dretch =/
I liked the fact that I could take a whole default base down with a dretch in 1.1, but now, I can maybe just pick off a few humans, making the dretch  a hard class for beginners. IMO, I guess I would take slower turrets, and be able to get those campers than the 1.1 ways...

I LOVE the idea of the slower healing away from the creep, balances things out alot more, and encourages aliens to build outside of the OM. (And makes the basi actually useful to inexperienced users)

The font looks kind of blurry, but I like the fact of the lower case letter vs. uppercase distinction rofl..

So far tho, it looks great, keep up the good work!

No one was really on the dev server when I got on, so I only got to try out the dretch/granger =/

(I will post more feedback as I tryout humans/play with other people)

I have some questions tho.. I see the dretch's health was brought down to 20, was their speed also reduced?

Discussion?

 - Font only looks blurry because you haven't done:
\bind t "ui_messagemode"
\bind y "ui_messagemode2"

(In console)

 - I don't believe that the dretch has slowed down

I think the dretches' hitbox and damage has been reduced, but that's about it Vatho.

It's the same thing for aliens, too. Humans require credits (so a goon is worth more towards the next stage than a dretch), while aliens require "frags" (horrible terminology imo, but Norf seems pretty set on calling them that) - otherwise known as evos - to stage up, so a battlesuit with a luci-cannon is worth much more than a naked human.

So, yeah, the new stage up thing works both ways.

I think the dretches' hitbox and damage has been reduced, but that's about it Vatho.

Not that damage is down (afaik), it's that headshots are only 1.5x instead of 2x. However, this ends up not mattering much. Lets look at why.

1.1:
Dretch torso shot: 48
Dretch headshot: 96
Total: 144

1.2:
Dretch torso shot: 48
Dretch headshot: 72
Total: 120

Either way, it's enough to kill a naked human. No instant poison kills, but poison lasts longer.

But isn't a dretch leg shot on MGDev worth 24? I thought that was the case, which means that a headshot + leg shot in 1.2 won't kill while the same attacks in 1.1 would. Which would explain some of the complaints I've heard about reduced dretch damage.

Not that it's a bad thing that it's been done (I support it), just saying where such ideas might come from.
