I don't know how anyone else feels on this, but I find it really hard as an alien to do much damage to human bases without dying now.

With slow regen, it seems that you only take out one or maybe two rets and run away only for a naked machine gunner to finish you off.

Do you think it's just my poor technique? Maybe I'm not working with people as a team as much as I should.

I will admit it is a pain having to return to base to heal, but it's nearly impossible to leave the human base in 1.1. I was playing on ATCS earlier today, and humans literally couldn't leave the base because rants had us trapped in. The one time I got past them I was slaughtered the second I reached the alien base and I barely managed to shoot a hovel while falling to my death.

Now that aliens regen slower, hopefully they won't camp the human base as much and humans can actually leave without getting gangbanged Smiley

That's a good point point about ATCs. It feels like smaller games of 2 vs 3 or 3 vs 3 are much easier when it comes to humans attacking bases, but then again I suppose aliens only need one evo to become an invincible terror, and another evo to make them all vomit!

I've yet to see a base that the S2 advanced dragoons can't tear apart like wet tissue paper given half a chance (apart from that epic reload time, 30 seconds per turret really stings after a while) and any base that is compact enough to stand half a chance against a tyrant is often compact enough to get generously redecorated by an advanced marauder.

Or by the snipe splash + building explosions...

Just thank god its nothing like the X server. If everyone gets to S3 the game most likely will take an hour or so.

There are many reasons why we're thankful that we're nothing like the X server.

I had no idea what you meant there for a minute - my first thought was you were comparing trem to the X Window System!

I guess I've been quite sheltered in that I rarely play on other servers Smiley

In re-reading my own post, I thought I meant that also, but then realized that I didn't. Also.

Oh, I did play on Dretch Storm yesterday (no-one was on PureTrem, in my defence!) and it was quite a nice server. Apparently you're their rivals though. I hope it's only friendly competition Smiley

Some nice folks there, I thought. One has really helped me improve my dretching - apparently my headshots were consistently aimed way too low.

I wouldn't describe D*S as rivals. But we (mostly) hate their gameplay modifications and on the whole don't get on well with their administration.
There's nothing *necessarily* wrong with their playerbase, except that they're not on PT Tongue
